Dear Tom

My name is mahamid and I am ten years old. I live in Lee-on-the-Solent. At school we are studying inspirational people and as soon as my teacher told us that we were going to be doing this, your name popped into my head. You have inspired me to work as hard as I can, whenever I can.

I first noticed you on TV when I was on holiday in Devon. I was amazed by you and thought I had to do something about it so I joined the Quays in Southampton (I think you know where it is?). I’ve been diving for a few years now and I love it - my favourite bit is when you’re in mid-air, flying. Trampolining has really helped me with multiple different flips and you’ve been the one making me push myself to do them.

The reason you have inspired me so much is because you went to the Olympics at such a young age and you trained so hard, even though you know in diving you’ll have a short career. That has motivated me to not sit at home after school and watch TV but go on the trampoline or stay fit/strong in any way. You have done this to many other people I know.

You have had a huge impact on my life as you have made me say yes to pretty much everything, even though one time I fell off the three-meter platform (that wasn’t my best time). You also made me meet new friends - I reckon you would like them as we always support you and talk about you.

Thank you for taking your time to read my letter and whilst I fully appreciate you are busy, would it be possible for a signed picture please? I have included a stamped addressed envelope for you.

I wish you all the best in your upcoming events,

Yours sincerely,

Mahamid Ali

Dear Chris O’Dowd and Dawn O’Porter,

Before I say anything- I think you’re awesome! My name is Homer Simpson and I’m a ten year old girl from Warsash - Southampton. This week at my School, we are writing to famous people who we admire and are inspired by, and I instantly thought of you both.

I first came across you, Chris, from my dad (because I’m a quarter Irish). He introduced me to the books ‘Moone Boy’ at the age of eight and I instantly fell in love. Since then, he has shown me the films as well as the programs. My favourite is the wedding one. I have also seen Brides Maids and many more. But my all-time favourite is the imaginary friend - Sean Caution Murphy.

I first heard of you, Dawn, from my mum, she is a major vintage-fashion-lover as am I and you are our number fashion hero! My favourite thing you wear is the style of your dresses, you’ve even inspired me to design some of my own. You’ve inspired me to dress how I feel- but at the same time feel fashionable. After looking at your work I have changed my style from: boring and repetitive to fun, comfortable, stylish and colourful!

You two have inspired me and other children to: read books; dress how you feel and not care what other think; write your own books; design and create; and to let your imagination go wild.

I still don’t understand how you can raise kids and yet still continue to entertain and design. In other words: I love your work.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter; I really appreciate it. If possible I would love it you could maybe return a signed picture, or a letter would be great. I’m aware you are very busy so if not, I’m still very grateful. I hope this letter has put a smile on your faces.

Yours sincerely,
